About the photographs

High quality stock photographs (royalty-free) of the Northern Lights in the Netherlands on the beach of Wassenaar. The northern lights include the fading colors green, purple, red and pink. On the photograph the stars are visible behind the rare sight of aurora in the Netherlands. These photographs are special, as aurora has not been this much visible in the Netherlands for twenty years. Since I was lucky to be awake during that time, I had the possibility to capture incredible photographs of the event, and so I did! The collection includes five high-quality photographs, made with the Sony A7III and a Tamron 28-200 mm lens. The photograph was made at night, just before sunset.

The story behind the photographs

It was a huge adventure to create these photographs! At first, when we saw the aurora at home, we were suprised: it had never got this bright in the Netherlands (at least in my life). We directly jumped in the car, and took our cameras with us. We first drove to an empty field, but we weren’t satisfied enough with the results (it was already 3:00 AM). So we jumped back in the car, and drove to the beach of Wassenaar. There it was incredibly dark, as we expected. The aurora was colorfully visible with the naked eye, as I had dreamt to do for years. We took our tripods and cameras and took these five photographs. When we were done with the photographs on the beach it was 4:30 AM. Suprisingly enough, the birds started to twitter already, as it slowly became morning. We quickly drove back home, and were in our beds at 5:00 AM. We did not have much sleep!

The editing

In the morning after I edited the photographs in Adobe Lightroom, and decided to publish them on the internet (links down below).
